Our Aistear theme for April is "The Supermarket". In Maths we have been learning about money, handling it at our role play supermarket area when paying the cashier. We had read lots of stories about shopping, money and food including "The Ravenous Beast" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". As Gaeilge we have been learning about "Ag Siopadóireacht" and know lots of songs and rhymes about it. We have also been working hard on our ePortfolios on Seesaw sharing our work with our parents at home.
We have been learning all about "Sa Bhaile" in Junior and Senior Infants, practising our counting skills as Gaeilge, na dathanna agus ag labhairt faoi "Mo Theach" freisin. You can click here to visit the Cula 4 Scéal an Lae website to hear some great stories in Irish.
We also listened to the story "Rosie's Walk" and talked about Rosie's journey through the farm, we thought the fox was very silly! You can listen to the story here below.
We have also been busy using the iPads to practice our reading skills, sight words, handwriting and practice our counting and number formation using lots of different apps and websites. The headphones mean we can listen carefully to instructions and stories too.
Our February Aistear topic is "The Dentist Surgery". Junior and Senior Infants have been working hard exploring the parts of the tooth, constructing their our tooth diagram at the Junk Art area. Our counting skills are being improved with the "Lose a Tooth Game" and we have been busy building lots of dentist tools at the construction area. At the water area we are busy cleaning plaque off our "teeth", which are invisalign aligners donated by very nice orthodontist!
We learned a great song to help us to remember to brush our teeth every morning and night, you can listen to it below.

Our first week at school in 2018 has been a very busy one. We have a new Aistear topic, "The Home" and for the month we will be learning all about houses, homes and our families. In Art we all became architects, engineers and builders, constructing our very own house out of cardboard boxes. We have created a role-play kitchen area and are writing about our homes and drawing house plans too.
In Maths Junior Infants are focusing on the number 3 and time. Senior Infants are learning about the number 8 and data. Click here to play some number games and practice the Days of the Week by singing the song at home.
Listen to Junior Infant's performing "Days of the Week" below.
We were so lucky to learn all about being a Garda from Garda John who came to our classroom and gave us a special talk all about Gardaí and safety. We learned how important it is to wear our seatbelts in the car, sit in our booster seats and wear hi-visibility vests when walking. He showed us the Garda uniform and all the tools a Garda needs to keep us safe! We had so much fun learning from him and he answered lots of our questions.
